Kwame Kilpatrick (D-Crib) was re-elected Mayor of Detroit despite the efforts of the suburbs and local media to treat him like a child molester in prison. Freeman Hendrix had all but been annointed Hizzoner by the White establishment but Kwame showed that he is a force to be reckoned with - he's still the Mayor. Of course, the suburbanites are going to unleash the full power of the dark side on the city of Detroit now, but I'm going to enjoy this defiant victory for the moment.

Are exicted that Kilpatrick won just because white folks wanted Hendrix?
Or do you feel that he can actually turn the city around?
During his first go around he seems to have not made much headway...
I am excited about Kilpatrick winning because of the concerted effort by Whites to screw him. As for turning the city around, no mayor of Detroit - Kilpatrick, Hendrix, Archer, Young, or whomever - can do anything without significant help and cooperation from Whites. We simply do not own the means of production and the corporations to revitalize a city's economy on our own, but one thing that Whites have learned the hard way over the last couple decades is that if they kill the city the suburbs die too, so they should be motivated to - at a bare minimum - not screw Kilpatrick too hard. Then again, one can never underestimate blind stupidity when it comes to pure hatred and White Supremacy - it's not just for Klansmen, you know. If my choice is between the city dying on its feet or living on its knees, begging for the kindness of White suburbia, then I think Patrick Henry speaks for me. Loudly.
